Powtoon Review: Create Animated Cartoon Presentations For Free
Creating videos for your marketing or business messages are huge and growing by the day. In fact video is knocking Google out of the park lately.
I reckon that if someone is looking for a ‘pragmatic how-to’, they’re just as likely to search YouTube as they are Google… What do you think?
Have you seen the latest animated video craze – the ones where the presenter is talking over someone animating on the screen?
These animated video presentations really do look awesome and I’m sure that viewers always stay to watch the end of those videos, which means positive things for anyone wanting to ensure that visitors stick around and take in what the website has to offer.
No matter what type of business you work in I’m positive that you could benefit from having a good looking animated video presentation. The only thing that may scare you off is the price…
Previously to create a great animated video presentation you may have been quoted between $3000 – $10000 depending on length of the video.
Free Online Animation Suite Anybody?
Yep you read that correctly there is a free online presentations suite call PowToon that I’d like to introduce you to today.
Before I continue I have to tell you I’ve had the most fun ever with this PowToon review. I have to say I did have a quick look at the what was available for creating free animations online, and nothing comes as close to PowToons for fantastic looking presentations and its ease of use.
I found most of them required you to enter special computer code to make your characters in your animation move. So we’ll leave them alone and check out Powtoon instead.
PowToon.com looks like it was developed in 2012 and it’s a presentation tool that allows you to create animated presentations by simply dragging and dropping designed elements to your slides. Plus slides can be turned into video presentation by clicking a button – literally.
Creating a video presentation with PowToon
I was really keen to try out PowToon and see what I could do with it, so I checked out their training videos. At the moment there are 15 to walk you through the process of creating an animated video or slide presentation.
The user control panel did look a bit alien to me, so I had a peek at the tutorials to get a handle of how it all works.
The training videos are between 1 minute and 6 minutes – I personally think this really does highlight how simple and easy PowToon is to use.
The styles you can choose from all have their own library of characters in different poses to choose from. At present there are 3 “people” styles to choose from, the all black shadow man, the pencil type drawings and colorful silhouettes.
The pencil drawn and the solid shadow characters are available in both male and female forms.
The text options are pretty awesome too with some very cool animations attached to them.
I just used the standard plain image holders but again you are not restricted to just that. I like the retro TV too.
You have plenty of ticks, crosses, arrows and circles to choose from, and the props go into the 100’s. I can guarantee that there will be loads more options coming, and you can also get a glimpse of what they PowToon team have in development.
This is the real deal clincher … the price of PowToon. It starts for free, $0.00, and we love that here at WFHW!
The free account includes the ability to create your own Powtoons that last up to 5 minutes long plus cool presentations that can include up to 5 minutes of animations.
You can make an unlimited amount of presentations and animated clips as you like and easily share them online on YouTube and the other 3 major social networks too. Google+, Twitter and Facebook.
The free account does show the PowToon watermark which is cool for most of us. If you want to export your PowToon without the PowToon watermark, Export in HD, or download to your computer you can buy a subscription or buy credits for export.
I suggest that you don’t even think about it because you are really going to love this… quality cartoon animations made easy. I quickly discovered how to use PowToon to produce our presentation pretty quickly … I can’t wait to do some more PowToons – I think I may become addicted!
